Adult Jiu Jitsu

Introduction to BJJ Class | Fundamentals I Class:

Intro to BJJ is designed for people with little or no experience in mind. We will be covering the basic principles and concepts of Jiu Jitsu and focusing on the strong heart curriculum. Although the class is not mandatory for new students, it is strongly encouraged.

Fundamentals II Class:

This class was also designed for beginners with little or no experience. Here, they will learn the basic moves, positions, and the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu. This class will help you to learn step by step techniques that are essential to build a solid game in Jiu Jitsu and covers Caio Terra’s white to blue curriculum. We believe that this class is very important and we encourage even our advanced students to review and drill these moves as often as they can. This is a Traditional Gi class and is an hour long.

Advanced Jiu-Jitsu:

This class consists of drilling moves and rolling (live training). Although it’s designed for people with more experience, we encourage the beginners to do this class as well as the Fundamentals class. This class will help you improve your competition game with advanced techniques. The use of a Gi is mandatory in this class. Usually this class begins right after a fundamentals class, and students will start class with a lite warm up, rolling and working techniques towards the end of class. This class is at least an hour long and students are NOT obligated to stay the whole class.

No-Gi:

This “No-Gi” class is designed for beginners and advanced students and consists of basic traditional Jiu Jitsu technics adapted to make up for the lack of a uniform to grab. Students will learn how to take down, hold down and apply joint locks to submit opponents who are not wearing a Gi. Class consists of warm-ups, technics, drilling and rolling (live training). This class is an excellent way to transition your Jiu Jitsu technics into self-defense. Students must wear shorts and a rash guard (or a t-shirt) to attend this class

Open Mat (Strong Heart Academy Members):

Open Mat is the time where Students can trade techniques and train without been supervised by an instructor. They are free to come and go whenever they feel like it and is very important for the development of students.

KIDS BJJ:

Kids BJJ is a grappling Martial Art using leverage to control a opponent with out throwing a single punch. Teaching kids goal setting, respect, keeping good grades, and developing team work. We have a clean facility and the softest mats in AZ. All of our Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are taught by 4 instructors including 2 Black belts!

Kid’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a Self-Defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint locks and choke holds to control and defeat the other person.

The Strongheart BJJ program places a strong emphasis in physical, mental, and spiritual development for the purposes of self-defense and personal growth. In addition, we have a Competition Team that hones the sport side of Jiu-Jitsu and we have several State and National Champions training within our program. Whether you’re looking for self-defense, sport training, and or just a bit more confidence and self-esteem for your child, the kid’s BJJ program is a great place to start. The kids martial arts classes are located in North Phoenix.
